Bashir Badr (born on 30 April 1945) is an Indian acclaimed poet of Urdu.
Bashir Badr was born in Kanpur, India. His full name is Syed Mohammad Bashir.
During his Masters progarm he was made to study one of his own book.
Bashir Badr has over 18,000 couplets to his name and many Urdu ghazals.
He has also been named the chairman of the Urdu Akademi, and is the most commonly sung and recited Urdu poet.
Bashir Badr is married and has two sons and a daughter. One of his son Nusrat Badr is a Bollywood writer. He lives in Bhopal. He is an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University. His disciple and famous poet Muslim Saleem, who got educated in Aligarh under Bashir Badr, also lives in Bhopal.
Badr was awarded the Padma Shri in 1999 for contribution towards literature and Sangeet Natak Akademi. He was the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi award in Urdu for his poetry collection Aas in 1999.
